Unhealthy & Losing Your Leaves? Chiropractic Can Change Your Season

Chicken Little: Autumn Edition

If I ran into your office screaming, “Something is wrong! All the trees in the city are dying!” You’d probably be equal parts alarmed and confused. When I caught my breath, I’d explain, “The leaves are falling off. Some are brown, but others are bright colors. Maybe the trees were poisoned. Without plants, we won’t have oxygen!”

At that point, you’d stop listening and hopefully call a family member or EMS to come take care of me.

Because you understand that the trees aren’t dying. The falling leaves are a symptom, brought about by the season and environment surrounding the tree.

Autumn isn’t a season of growth for the tree, and it may not be a season of growth for you.

If life is suppressed in your body, you will have symptoms of that. However, you can take steps to bring yourself back to full vitality. Because when your body is in a “summer season,” you will be harvesting all the fruits of health–from playing easier with your kids, to being able to work out again, or even experiencing relief from depression or anxiety. Of the many steps towards health, chiropractic is an important one to not forget.

“For Chiropractors, health is defined…by how well your body can adapt to its environment and heal under its own innate abilities. You have more healing intelligence in your little finger than all the doctors and pharmacies in the world put together.” (WeeklySticky.com)

In his post, 10 Things Most People Don’t Know About Chiropractic, Dr. Ryan Dopps talked about how the body isn’t a collection of separate mechanisms; it’s a whole, controlled by a nervous system and brain. It’s why we use the body as an analogy for many parts working together, individually and collectively.

Your nerves travel through and control every function of your body. They originate at the spinal cord and their precious transmission of information can be disrupted if the joints of the surrounding spinal column are not moving properly. This disruption is what chiropractors call a subluxation.

Did you know that pain is the last symptom of dysfunction?

A patient’s back is often restricted or unstable for months or years before it presents as a problem and they show up in a chiropractor’s office. In addition, the absence of pain is not health. Just as a tree whose leaves aren’t falling off, isn’t necessarily producing fruit.
